Rope Socket Disc Type rendering

Rope Socket Disc Type

Attaching Slickline cable to the tool string, predominately for small diameter Slickline cables up to and including 0.092”

Product summary

Hunting Disc & Spring Rope Sockets are used to attach Slickline cable to the tool string and are predominately used with small diameter Slickline cables up to and including 0.092”.

The Rope Socket assembly consists of a body with an external fishing neck, spring, guide and wire carrier

The Slickline is passed through the body, spring and guide before being wrapped tightly around the wire carrier. The short end of the Slickline is firmly wrapped around the long end of the wire carrier using twelve to fifteen close wraps.

A clean break made close to the last wrap allows the spring and guide to pass over the wraps. The knot is then installed into the body.

For confidence that the Rope Socket has been set correctly, Hunting recommends that the ExCro tester is used to load test the completed Rope Socket assembly.

Technical information on the ExCro tester is available upon request.

The Hunting Wire Ductility Tester can be used to verify the condition of a sample length of carbon steel, alloy or stainless-steel Slickline.

Hunting Disc & Spring Rope Sockets are available in all common industry toolstring sizes and are manufactured with either sucker rod or integral quick connections as per customer requirements
